10 weird aphrodisiacs you probably don’t know about:
Introduction:
Aphrodisiacs have been used for many years, either by people suffering from erectile dysfunction or people who want to increase their sexual virility. Their sources varied just as the demographic variation of their users; they are either plant or animal based. Plant sources are acceptable to many people. However, some animal sources not only are they weird, their effectiveness is also doubted by many. The Chinese have been accused of poaching rhinos for their horns, but if you think killing a rhino, remove its horn and use it in making aphrodisiacs is weird, below is a list of 10 weird aphrodisiac sources modern man is unlikely to use.

The blister beetle is a green colored insect also referred to as the Spanish fly. It contains a compound known as cantharidin which is a very powerful irritant. To make an aphrodisiac, the blister beetle was killed and crushed; it was then dried and ground into a fine powder. The formed powder was rubbed against the genital areas causing irritations. This resulted to an increase of blood flow causing a similar feeling to when a person is sexually excited. Use of the powder is very dangerous; intoxication can lead to death easily, it is poisonous and illegal to use. Places where crushed blister beetle was used include Spain where the witchdoctors mixed it with mole and bat blood to make love portions. Cases of deaths as a result of using crushed blister beetle occurred in Spain when Marquis spiked drinks of some prostitutes to have a sexual orgy. Although young people in these countries have embraced use of modern medicine to cure erectile dysfunction, old Chinese men are still skeptical, they prefer using traditional sources such as the tiger’s penis. Soup made from tigers’ penises is an expensive delicacy in China restaurants; customers place orders months before it can be available. The high demand has led to extensive poaching; the tiger is now an endangered species. Other tiger body parts used as aphrodisiac include bones and liver.

According to the Chinese, snake blood is a cure to many sexual deficiencies including erectile dysfunction. Snakes’ poison is found in the head, by cutting it off, chances of ingesting poison are reduced, and however, sometimes the blood can have some poison in it. There are no specific preferred types of snakes as long as they are poisonous, some weird practices piercing the tail and sucking the blood from it.

The brains were consumed raw and the oddest thing was the fact that some people consumed the brain with the animal still alive. Monkey brains were believed to cure erectile dysfunction. Consuming of monkey brain is however dangerous, if a human being consumes brain from a monkey infected by Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, the virus is transferred to the eater.
